The Impact of Euromaidan on Image of Ukraine

February 11, 2014 an international roundtable “The impact of Euromaidan on image of Ukraine” was held. The event was organized by PR agency Bohush Communications, Analytical Center “Politics” and the Center of Social Research “Ukrainian meridian”.

The roundtable was attended by the head of PR agency Bohush Communications Denis Bogush, Director of the Academic Center for Baltic and Russian Studies Karmo Tuur (Estonia), President of «Achelis & Partner GmbH Public Relations» Thomas Achelis (Germany), Head of the Association of Czech-Ukrainian partnership Jaroslav Pesek (Czech Republic), First Secretary of the Embassy of Latvia in Ukraine Lihita Davydova, Chairman of the Liberty and Enterprise Foundation Jacek Spendel (Poland), an expert of the Center “Geopolitics” Vadim Volovoy (Lithuania), International projects coordinator of the Analytical Center “Politics” Oleg Lisny, Director of the Center of Social Research “Ukrainian meridian” Dmytro Levus’, experts, media.

During the presentation Denis Bogush pointed out: “There are two news concerning the image of Ukraine:

First one. The level of popularity, which Ukraine gained in the world due to Euromaidan, otherwise would cost our state millions of dollars.

Second one. The key message at international media is that Ukraine has become problematic country and its political leaders lose legitimacy.

As a result, the development of investment and tourism flows in Ukraine has come under question. Another possible consequence of recent events is the wave of migration from Ukraine”.

Euromaidan has attracted world’s attention to Ukraine. However, the world press diversely covers events at our country. Thus, Euromaidan and related events have certainly affected on the international image of Ukraine. Therefore participants of the roundtable have found out the image of revolutionary Ukraine from the world’s community point of view.
